What is the 5 letter name of the server or server application that acts as an intermediary between a client asking for a resource and the server providing that resource? The asked application/server serves as a method to simplify or control the complexity of the request. It can also work as a load balancer, or provide benefits such as privacy or security. Various types include anonymous, forward, reverse, caching, transparent, intercepting, inline, forced ***** and many more. This concept is also being utilized in "Tor onion" layered approach, where multiple of such servers are used for traffic to be encrypted in successive layers as onion peels, to protect users' online privacy.

Answer to yesterday's question: "BIOS" - Basic Input / Output System. Original BIOS didn't have interactive user interface and errors were displayed as error codes or sound signals, when the system being powered on didn't manage to initialize a video display adapter. It was located on ROMs (Read Only Memories) which could be replaced, but not altered. BIOS is the layer that initialises hardware on power-on and then hands control over to the operating system's bootloader — essentially the first software your CPU runs.
