Daily Quiz #7

By Kaarel Koivupuu

For this question we need to go back in time. Who was the lady, daughter of poet Lord Byron, 19th century mathematician and writer, known to have worked on Charles Babbage's proposed "Analytical engine"? "Note G" is a computer algorithm attributed to her, where the algorithm was designed to calculate Bernoulli numbers. She is widely considered to be the first programmer because of this particular algorithm.

Answer to yesterday's question: "Mercurial" (https://www.mercurial-scm.org/). Mercurial was initially developed by Olivia Mackall - she served as project lead until late 2016. Mercurial is released as a free software mainly written in Python. From large consumers, Facebook, Mozilla have both adopted Mercurial, and to a lesser extent Google is also utilizing Mercurial. Mercurial was also supported by Bitbucket until July 2020,when Mercurial was dropped in favour of Git - this is also a reason why older projects in Bitbucket, created before the cut-off, might carry unorthodox setups or quirks from a pure "Git" perspective.
